My Approach to Helping
Therapy should do more than provide comfort and support - it should help you achieve the changes you are looking for. You should leave therapy having attained your goals, along with a set of tools that you can use for the rest of your life. I can help you reduce your stress, worry, fear, anger, sadness and other negative emotions; I can help you have better relationships (with your partner/spouse, kids and anyone else) by bringing out the best in yourself and others; I can help you achieve your personal and business goals. I use innovative approaches that achieve results quickly and deeply - I know you want to start achieving your goals as soon as possible!

More Info About My Practice
I have a special interest in parenting. I've authored the book "Raise Your Kids without Raising Your Voice" which covers all aspects of raising kids from birth to adulthood. I love helping people to reduce parenting stress, improve parent-child relationships, establish healthy boundaries and guide their kids in creative, compassionate and kind ways.

I am a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Your private health insurance plan may cover psychological services.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am very experienced in the field of parent education and counseling. For more than 30 years I have helped parents to solve every sort of parenting challenge. I have written a book on the subject ("Raise Your Kids without Raising Your Voice"), taught and lectured across North America on the subject, and counseled thousands of parents in my private practice. Moreover, my practice in individual counseling has shed enormous light on the needs of children - working as I have with so many individuals who have been significantly wounded by the parenting strategies of their parents. Helping parents is a passion of mine because by doing this work, I know that I am helping prevent the kind of damage that leads people to require therapy in adulthood. I feel that healthy parents can raise healthy children and help make this world a healthier place to live in.

What Makes up a Problem?

I believe that we are strongly affected by BOTH our environment and our genes. To that end, I offer both counseling and more biologically (body-based) interventions in my practice. For instance, if a child has an anger problem or a problem with bedtime fears, I will teach the parents interventions that can help the child function most appropriately. However, I may also offer Bach Flower Therapy - a form of vibrational medicine (harmless enough for newborn babies and pregnant women!) that can provide something called "epigenetic healing" - the turning off of genes. Instead of teaching a child only how to "manage" his anger or fear (or any other chronic negative emotion), the parents can help him eliminate the tendency to become angry or fearful or whatever. Bach Flower Remedies do not relax a person or numb feelings - rather they restore a person to his or her normal self - the self that he or she feels when things are going well. Bach Remedies can help parents become more patient, less worried or more optimistic. They can help teens weather their moods better. In fact, they can help anyone of any age feel less stressed and more content, less conflicted and more confident. They can even help with sleep issues. The remedies help the psychological interventions work more quickly and easily, sliding "downhill" as it were, instead of uphill against the nature of the person. They are offered as one option along with many others in my therapeutic tool kit.
