My Approach to Helping
In my therapeutic approach, I utilize an eclectic blend of more conventional therapies and alternative methods of healing. My approach varies naturally with each client, depending on his or her individual therapeutic goals, needs, and style. I value a holistic perspective, and favor 'talk' therapy, EMDR, mindfulness meditation, humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and sometimes, even equine-assisted psychotherapy. I promote increased self awareness and knowledge, which develops emotional, physical, and spiritual balance. This works towards reducing many sources of conflict in one's life.
I work with a broad range of mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, anger, grief, and pain. My emphasis is treating adolescents and adults who struggle with trauma, including domestic abuse, and childhood abuses, as well as co-dependency, divorce, and relationship issues. I also enjoy working with students who are experiencing life transition, academic, and goal achievement issues.
More Info About My Practice
I am an out-of-network provider. My services are often covered by insurance plans that have a benefit for out-of-network psychotherapy or counseling. Please check your insurance plan to see if there is a benefit for out-of-network. I will be happy to provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance carrier.
I schedule sessions Monday through Thursday, with early and evening hours available. My fees are $130 for the initial session, and $110 for each subsequent session. I do offer a sliding scale where appropriate. If you feel I can help you, please get in touch so that we may get started.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
It is important in my practice to create a confidential and non-judgmental setting, which is essential for exploring issues and generating solutions. If you can experience a sense of safety, kindness, and honesty, we can then move, at a comfortable pace, through what you are bringing to each session. Part of my job as a therapist is to deeply listen to what you are saying , and not saying, during each session. From this listening I can help you explore the underlying issues of your experience as well as identify your personal strengths.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
As a client-focused psychotherapist, I believe the level of success in treatment begins with the development of the client-therapist relationship. This relationship is essential; from this base, I can support you in moving away from personal pain, and towards a 'best' self. I can support you in facilitating change. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process, which involves active participation from both the client and myself.
