My Approach to Helping
Specializing in treatment of anxiety of all kinds, Dr. Denning has created an agenda based therapy called Adaptive Behavioral Therapy. It is a new treatment and prevention model which addresses the brain's ability to change through neurogenesis due to experience and the impact of stress. By structuring a combination of psychodynamic, developmental, and behavioral methods Dr. Sara Denning has created an agenda driven therapy. This program educates the client about their historic adaptations to stress which creates a platform for insight to current anxiety triggers and patterns of response. The development of new adaptive behavior is promoted through the use of interruption techniques and specific tools.

More Info About My Practice
Dr. Sara Denning is the author of the My Anxiety Notebook series. She created this downloadable program as the result of many years of practice with a variety of patients and their conditions. Her treatment for stress begins by finding behavior patterns that create high levels of anxiety. Identifying historic and current reactions to stress and using interruption techniques creates the potential for new behavior to emerge. The introduction of new coping tools allows the patient to maintain lower anxiety on a daily basis. Dr. Denning found that patients need concrete work sheets to clarify historic behavioral patterns while tracking current anxiety triggers. She feels that use of the interruption technique allows us to move into a phase of therapy based on the prevention of ?getting stuck? in old responses.
