Unfortunately, therapists vary widely. This time, listen to your instincts as you interview. Is your body relaxed or tense? Are you being understood, or are your issues being melded to another agenda? Does the therapist ask for your feedback, and do you feel free to hurt their feelings? In my experience, the right fit clicks in a few sessions. I sense who I can help, and who to refer on to different setting or person.
If you are feeling weak or flawed, we all are--you have achieved wisdom! But when these feelings cause you to doubt yourself or are used against you, then we can work on easing that pain and help you move forward. Considering therapy is a sign of strength, not weakness--that you are the healthy one, even you feel the most crazy.
