My Approach to Helping
My belief is that two of the most important tools to effecting positive change in our lives are the desire for a richer self-awareness and a well-developed sense of humor.
Therapy, and Life Coaching are a blend of science and craft based upon the bond that a client and therapist create together. Moreover, they are tools to be utilized, and methods to be explored to effectively find positive ways to enhance or change your life.
Working together, we will bring your challenges and dreams into the spotlight, place them into crystal clear focus, and help you, your spouse, children and/or family members create meaningful understanding, achievements and change.
We will explore options with you in a safe, warm and open-minded environment, recognizing that each approach needs to be as unique as the individuals themselves. There is no "one size fits all". While I have all the licenses, credentials and clinical training consistent with Psychotherapy and I do employ standard techniques for determining a method of interaction, the interaction you will experience with me, and the path I will travel with you, is anything but "off-the-shelf".
In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have a broad hybrid career which has given me a vast base of experience to draw upon. Whether you are an individual, couple, family or adolescent, I will always recognize that you are one of a kind, and I will react accordingly utilizing my broad range of experience to best assist your hopes, challenges and dreams.
MOST IMPORTANT. My belief is that two of the most important tools to effecting positive change in our lives are the desire for a richer self-awareness and a well-developed sense of humor.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
The combination of emotional intelligence and empathy is central to positive relationships with yourself and others. I have many years using evidence based emotional and cognitive models and have found this is the most beneficial aspect we can bring to bear for relationships, anxiety, depression for individuals, couples, and families in both home and work settings alike.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
It is the most important baseline requirement. One cannot be assured that therapy will meet your needs simply because there is a good relationship. However, we could bet that it is difficult to work and grow with someone with whom you cannot connect.
Having said that, I find when that connection is made, and there is that "click" the therapist and client are at their best and together they can create positive change. This remains true in individual, couples or family counseling.
