Most therapy focuses on confronting problem and issues with the goal of removing the obstacles that make life difficult. This is certainly important and cannot be ignored. However, growth, happiness, and a sense of flourishing is much more than just removing negativity. In some circumstances people get overwhelmed with negativity and often need help focusing on and building the positive aspects of their lives. Some other people just never had the opportunity to cultivate the skills necessary for a robust sense of well being. I use traditional modes of psychotherapy to help you overcome difficulties, but then use positive psychology to build on people's strengths and flourish in the areas that they can feel best.

I have been working with trauma survivors for a few decades and found that for successful recovery one needs to find develop positive growth skills. This is often even more important than the usual trauma work once the basic therapy has been achieved. This is also important for people who live with trauma survivors. People who live with trauma survivors need specialized support and coaching which is only available from professionals who have experience in this area.
