My Approach to Helping

Most clients come to counseling to gain understanding but they also want change. I provide clients with ways to gain insight and empower clients with skills. Rather than focus on the rpoblem, we will focus on solutions.

More Info About My Practice

I have developed my own unique approach to relationship counseling that blends the best of the leading theories including the Gottman Model, and Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy. I believe that conflict is natural and purposeful. I help clients process their differences effectively by teaching them skills of mindfulness and positive communication, what I call CONSCIOUS CONFLICT. Most conflict is an emotional regulation problem. My experience is that if clients can be more mindful of their anxiety and the anxiety of their partner, they can choose to respond in a way that is soothing, constructive, and connective.
