My Approach to Helping
As a former coach of Olympic athletes, I bring optimism and energy to my work as a psychotherapist. I believe in each person's ability to heal themselves and I work with you as a guide to help you discover and live a life with joy instead of one filled with repeating painful patterns. My primary approach is to look at the underlying reasons at the root of your pain. I then provide direct feedback and direct interventions to help you feel you are an active partner in your own healing. In this way, you discover the "why" of your issues as well as a "how" to help beyong them.

I also strive to provide a safe therapeutic environment. It is extremely important that you feel comfortable with me, or any therapist you work with, because these are the most important issues you face. When you have reached the point of deciding to come to therapy, you have decided to do something about your issues. You want to know that the therapist is someone you can trust.

I work quickly and efficiently and do not believe that therapy must take years to be effective or long lasting. I will listen to you and provide feedback. I will let you make your own choices so that you will find your own way. You will develop your own inner strength and your own potential and your own authentic voice in the world. If you ready to take the steps to make changes in your life, I ready to help you.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I approach psychotherapy from a place of helping people find their true strength and their true inner core in order to overcome long-standing emotional blocks and obstacles. I am particularly adept at repairing early childhood issues, be it physical, emotional or sexual abuse. I have a gift for helping heal these early wounds and turn them into strengths instead of limitations. I am also able to combine a depth psychological approach with helping creative individuals reach new levels of mastery and emotional depth with regards to their creative pursuit. I utilize an eclectic approach that integrates a Jungian perspective with a concrete application to the creative work. I often work with actors, writers, directors, producers and others to help shape and refine their work. I also feel strong with my work with couples; my strength as a psychotherapist lies in my ability to see the complexity of the issues and to find a way to mediate them and heal the wounds each person brings into the relationship. I provide a directive approach that takes into account the underlying roots of the issues. Finally, what makes me unique as a psychotherapist is my ability to be straight forward and directive if I have to, along with my understanding of healing wounds at a deep and sometimes unknowable and unseen level.
