My Approach to Helping

Are you feeling depressed, anxious, or overwhelmed by life's challenges? Does your life seem more stressful and less enjoyable than it should? Do your relationships feel strained and unsatisfying? I can help you address the problems causing you stress and emotional pain so you can start enjoying your life again. I specialize in depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, challenging life transitions and experiences, and reproductive health issues (including infertility, pregnancy loss, postpartum depression and menopause). My counseling style is warm, supportive and respectful. I strive to create a welcoming and comfortable environment that allows my clients to feel safe so they may share, explore and resolve their innermost problems. I work with individuals and couples using a collaborative approach aimed at developing personal strengths, alleviating distressing feelings and behaviors, and creating stronger relationships with the people you love. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Vassar College, a Master's Degree in Psychology from The American University, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in Marital/Couple and Family Therapy from The Illinois School of Professional Psychology. I completed my doctoral training at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Life doesn't have to be painful. There is hope. You can have a happier and more fulfilling life. If you have any questions or if you would like to schedule an initial appointment, please feel free to call me at (847) 942-2050, email me at handel-fano@IllinoisClinicalPsychologist.com and/or visit my website for more information: www.IllinoisClinicalPsychologist.com.
