My Approach to Helping
The work I offer to Adolescents, Adults, and Couples is based on honoring the Soul, through self-exploration, leading to acceptance, transformation, balance and healing.
I have worked for over 40 years as a teacher, public speaker, mediator, and now counselor, bringing experience in problem solving to my work. Having been a gifted and troubled teen, a classical musician trained in New York City, performances at Carnegie Hall, and over 30 years with the Santa Fe Opera, I bring a unique perspective and approach to my psychotherapeutic work not often found in the professional counseling community.
My approach is solution driven, and relies deeply on the trusting and collaborative relationship I foster with each client.
Together we identify concerns, and co-create pathways towards solutions.
As a partner in a 27 year relationship, I bring experience and perspective to my work as a relationship and marriage counselor.
With focus and respect for the uniqueness of every client, I tailor my therapeutic approach to fit the age, situation, and desires of each client or couple that comes to work with me.

More Info About My Practice
I feel specifically drawn to, and adept at working with adolescents, especially "gifted" adolescents. What teen isn't gifted?...while also confused, questioning, and needing support and guidance?
Music and performing were what made me stand out, discover my voice, and my individuality. But what about fitting in, and still finding a way to understand how am I different, how am I me, and how can I make it all work together?
Helping to counsel and support adolescents is one of my passions, focuses, and gifts in doing this work.

My office is in Historic Downtown Santa Fe where I have lived and worked with gratitude for over 20 years. Many clients work or travel schedules do not allow for regular office visits. To accommodate their schedules and needs, I am adept at telephone sessions, allowing us to work together while you are at your home, office, or travel.
I invite all adults, adolescents and couples, who feel they could benefit from our working together, to contact me for a confidential consultation.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

I think one of the most important factors in choosing a therapist is feeling the fit, the connection, the comfort that you like your therapist, and the trust that they are capable of helping you. I believe the relation between the therapist and client is paramount to the success of the work. Relating to the world is tough. Relating to ourselves can be difficult, and is often what brought us to this crossroads in the first place. Be certain that you relate to, and feel good about your selected therapist. Then, the work that you as a client put into it, can be all the more rewarding, satisfying, and fruitful, potentially going beyond your ideas of specific problem solving, and restoring a sense of balance and acceptance in your life, work, and relationships.
