My Approach to Helping

My philosophy toward helping people begins with a basic belief that most of us are doing the very best we can, the best we know how considering our life experiences so far.

But sometimes (often!) life throws us a "curve ball" and we don't know what to do! And that's when it can be helpful to talk with someone. Someone who talks with lots of people. Someone like me.

My office is a safe, caring place for people to express their worries and emotions. Together, we talk about new ways to make positive changes in their lives. Our work is a collaboration of the two (and sometimes three) of us, and a journey we walk together.

I am definitely NOT a "quiet listener" type of therapist. I will freely offer my opinions and ideas, and I expect my clients to feel free to do the same.

I help people recognize their own strength and dignity, and assist them to reclaim their own power to choose the direction of their lives. My purpose is to suggest new ways of understanding difficulites and challenges, and to support and encourage you as you try new ways of dealing with them.
