My Approach to Helping
Do you sometimes ask yourself: ~ How can I stop feeling angry, disappointed, or frustrated in my situation? ~ I tried everything, nothing works in the long term. What can I do? ~ Why are relationships so unfulfilling? During sessions, you are gently guided to recognize the parts of your Self that have conflicting, often incompatible goals, perspectives, and beliefs. Those parts often pull you in opposite directions - "I really want ice cream, but I also want to lose weight," for example - and criticize you for not being more responsible, productive, etc... The various parts of yourself fight for your compliance and try to convince you that their point of view is the one you need to follow. By inviting your own Self to be in the lead - not the therapist's- you become able to see yourself though the eyes of the unconditionally loving Self you really are. This helps you understand and step out of the inner battles "high-jacking" your mind, leaving you exhausted and puzzled as to why you don't reach your goals, or why you lose your self-control. While you focus on each part of yourself with curiosity and love, those inner parts start collaborating with each other under the leadership of your Self. This approach to the psyche combines many interventions from other models (Gestalt, psychodynamic, etc) with a spiritual approach that places the Self in a leadership role by treating each Part as a "real" personality inside that is capable of relating in harmony with the others.
