My Approach to Helping
I am a Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist. I provide individual Counselling and Yoga Therapy to men and women in Vancouver, BC.

I support individuals through life transitions, difficulty in relationships, self-development, and emotional overwhelm. Working together with you, I provide therapeutic support that is collaborative, supportive of your goals and aspirations, and open to your worldview, beliefs, and experiences. I am known for my warmth, empathy and compassion, and provide guidance that empowers you to make the changes and differences you desire in your life.

Additionally, I offer Yoga Therapy (PRYT) sessions - a gentle and effective way of working through psychological issues using supported yoga postures, mindfulness theory, and counselling techniques. Yoga Therapy often acts as a complementary means of advancing exploration and adding value to the process of therapy.

Professionally, I bring to the healing process my experience working for Family Services of Greater Vancouver as a domestic violence counsellor and my many years as a therapeutic art instructor working with children, adults and seniors. As a result I have experience working through a variety of issues and concerns with a wide range of culturally and demographically diverse clients.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I help people improve their relationship to themselves. People come to me wanting to feel less anxious, less distressed, improve their relationships, feel more secure, or be more content with their decisions. I believe that by supporting them to feel empowered they will inherently change how they understand their abilities, strengths, and choices and make the changes they desire. To empower clients I focus on supporting them to deeply explore their experiences - encouraging them by asking open questions and taking a genuine interest in their perspective. In this way people feel safe and respected in their opinions and often discover new ways of understanding why they believe the things they believe – further identify what is working or not working for themselves. Identification can lead to insight and insight can lead to action. Action then leads to change and change makes way for growth.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Therapy helps you identify the changes you want to make, explore who you are, discover what inspires you, and find the courage and strength within to strive for your goals. Whether you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, down, or struggling to make changes – you have the innate ability to heal, change, and grow. Psychotherapy supports this innate ability by providing you with a safe confidential space to explore, express, process and collaboratively create new ways to understand your experiences and your self. Therapy is more than talking to a friend. Therapy is focused, directed by a therapist that is empathic, genuine, and non-judgmental, and confidential. Because of these elements the therapy process is unique to other relationships in life, allowing for personal honesty and exploration without repercussions or compromise
