My Approach to Helping
For nearly 20 years, my training and experience in Bowen Family Systems Theory helps the client put self and relationship system in perspective, increasing flexibility and resiliency to personal problems and life's numerous challenges. The therapy session provides time for the client to think through relationship dilemmas without emotional pressure, and clarify thinking and responses to others in a neutral atmosphere. This approach helps the client to make decisions that are true to self and his or her belief system, while maintaining integrity in important relationships. Clients find it helpful as they increase curiosity about themselves and important people in their life, and learn more about how relationships work. As clients proceed in therapy, they improve their ability to set goals and take responsibility for the direction of the therapy. My clients come from all walks of life with the entire range of physical, emotional, and/or clinical problems.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Ambivalence is always explored and discussed during the course of the initial session with every client, and is respectfully attended to as needed during the course of therapy.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

Family and social relationships influence growth, maturity and development, and stresses and imbalances in the relationship system contribute to the course of many mental health issues and disorders
