I believe that effective therapy is based on a trusting, empathic relationship. It is my general goal to help clients realize what their "blind spots" are: those behaviors, feelings, attitudes that they are not aware of that may be hindering their well-being. In addition to developing a better understanding of how one's past affects one's choices, feelings, and behavior--therapy has to also work on diminishing the current distress and discomfort that is disrupting life "in the now". I have been in private practice since 1996 and have helped many people struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, sexual compulsions, and relationship problems. I work with both individuals and couples.
