My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who uses several therapeutic styles including cognitive/behavioral and reality therapies. My strengths include empathy, compassion, humor, and sensitivity to any issue that is brought to the "couch." My job is to help you help you and in doing so I am along for the ride and journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth.
I work with a varied clientele covering many different issues and feel that my approach is both inviting and invigorating in terms of allowing clients the opportunity to find a healthy path that was designed especially by them for them. University of Central Florida and Full Sail students welcome.
I have worked in the prison/court systems, private practice, and college counseling center, and feel that I have the perspective that is necessary and desired for a successful therapeutic relationship. I am involved in the Veterinary Community of Central Florida as a consultant, therapist, and wife of a local veterinarian.

My Role as a Therapist

I believe my role as a therapist is to "help you help yourself." I am an objective individual and not emotionally engaged in a client's life the same way that a family member of friend is. This clarity can help a client gain insight into their life or a situation that is emotionally taxing to them. With this gained insight, a client has an opportunity to learn and grow.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Therapy is a unique opportunity for someone to vent, share, ask for feedback, gain insight, etc. about themselves or others. Therapy/counseling may be the only time that someone has to completely express themselves in an environment that is safe. It is important when seeking out therapy or considering starting it again, that you ask questions to any therapist regarding their style and/or approach. It is important to feel safe and comfortable in any setting and to not feel judged by others. Listen to your instinct, if you are not comfortable and or do not feel that you can open up to someone without that feeling of judgement, then do not continue with that therapist. Find a therapist whom is present for you and not for themselves.
