My Approach to Helping
I believe that we all have the desire and the capacity to continue to grow and learn throughout our lives. Unfortunately, there are many things that can happen to us as we go through life that interferes with, and even blocks, our achieving our innate potential for growth.

I see psychotherapy as one of the most effective ways to recognize and remove the obstacles that life places in our path. While there are many different forms of therapy, it is the importance of the relationship that unites them all.

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

Over the years, I have studied a wide range of theoretical perspectives. As an undergraduate, I was exposed to the benefits of cognitive-behaviorism, then in my master's program I studied the influence of the community on the individual. I have continued to expand my clinical skills both by focusing for a time with different populations and groups (children, teens, couples, cross-cultures, lgbtq, etc), as well as theoretical orientations. I continue to study and receive consultation on Interpersonal Neurobiology, Attachment, Trauma, and Psychoanalytic perspectives.
