My Approach to Helping

I work primarily with couples and relationship issues (50% of my caseload). Male and female individuals make up the remainder of my practice, as well as a small number of families. I have been classically trained in the psychodynamic mode and in family systems and in existential therapy. More recently, and in response to many client needs, I have become quite interested in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also use "Solution-Focused Brief Therapy." Consequently, I consider myself well-versed in a variety of theoretical models and practical interventions. This allows me to meet the variety of needs that clients present. I do not try to "jam a square peg in a round hole" but rather match interventions that work best for your particular and unique situation. My approach is very interactive rather than passive. Therapy is, from my point of view, a collaborative process where the therapist adopts the empathic role of guide, mentor or sometimes even coach; always keeping the best interests and best outcomes for the client in mind.

More Info About My Practice

I work for many EAP (Employee Assistance Programs) and am also a provider with many insurance companies including Premera, Regence, Cigna, Aetna, Magellan, United Behavioral Health and many others. I'm happy to help decipher the tangled world of insurance and intervene when appropriate to help you use your insurance benefits.
