My Approach to Helping
Deciding to begin therapy is an important step in seeking to improve yourself and your life. Your choice of a therapist is very important. Research has shown that the relationship between therapist and client is the single most important variable in successful therapy. People seek therapy for a multitude of problems including relationship problems, job issues and low self-esteem. You may be experiencing anxiety, ongoing depression, coping with the loss of an important relationship, making significant life decisions or practicing self injurious behaviors such as cutting. My style of practice is collaborative, non-pathologizing and supportive. My practice is informed by various therapies including psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and supportive counseling. I utilize cognitive behavioral interventions and EMDR in my practice and work on short term, issue or crisis focused work
as well as long term therapy. I am experienced in treating both males and females and those who have experienced physical and sexual abuse.

Clients may come in with the same issue but their individual experience is unique. My skill as a therapist is often being able to help a client reflect on and understand their own experience and manage feelings attached to the issue. Also, having worked with crime victims, I have specific knowledge and skill in trauma and bereavement.
