My Approach to Helping
Finding the right therapist is not easy. If you are looking for a safe and nurturing atmosphere in which your desired goals and potential can be achieved I can assist you. I believe that helping my clients create a more fulfilling well balanced life is my role as therapist. Whether you are in crisis, a difficult relationship, have low self-esteem, parenting issues, are ill, have anxiety, depression, an addiction or just feel out of balance I am committed to creating a trusting relationship that fosters respect for your personal process. I am aware of how difficult it is to be honest about feelings, past trauma, fears and anxiety. As such, I am completely nonjudgmental and provide unconditional support to everyone I work with.
I have over 12 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families. I am a professor and clinical supervisor training graduate students and new therapists about how to best assist their clients' needs. My belief is that every person, couple and family is unique in their experience and issues. Therefore I tailor my approach for each individual from a variety of interventions and therapeutic techniques, to resolve the issues that allow my clients to heal and develop a well balanced life.
Additionally, I dedicated many years of my practice to working with Cancer Patients and people struggling with other health issues such as infertility, miscarriage, HIV/AIDS, and trauma victims. I have developed workshops and facilitated many groups in these areas. I understand the issues and familial dynamics that transpire when someone falls ill. Overall, I offer sensitivity and compassion to all my clients and will work hand in hand with you to reclaim your life and help you become the person you want to be.

My Role as a Therapist
My role as therapist is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where my clients can feel comfortable expressing their fear, anger, sadness and triumphs without judgement. I help them in realizing their therapeutic and life goals while providing a space for containment throughout their personal journey.
What I Usually Need to Know to Help
I look at all aspects of the individual in addition to the psychological perspective. I believe that our social, biological, and cultural backgrounds make up who we are and that it is essential to incorporate this understanding in order to understand the whole person.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
Therapy is often misunderstood. It is not for people who are flawed or weak. Therapy is for everyone. Anyone who needs support, containment or a person to bounce ideas off of can benefit from therapy. People experiencing a change such as a new career, marriage, divorce, a new baby, or a residential move may need support through their transition. Therapy can be brief or long term. It is something that most anyone can benefit from at some point in their lives.
