My Approach to Helping
Successful therapy doesn't have to take forever. I offer both short and long-term therapy and I tailor my therapeutic approach to fit your individual needs. I have had great success with people who have previously found therapy to be unhelpful and I am often told by my clients that my approach is very refreshing and promotes change quickly.
I will do far more than "just listen" - I believe in developing tools and teaching skills that help to break destructive patterns and develop healthy ones. I offer a free phone consultation.
I accept only clients in my private practice whom I believe have the capacity to resolve their own problems with my assistance. You will be able to tell if the counseling is effective. Trust your instincts about whether or not I am the right therapist for you. Feeling confident about who you have chosen to work with is an essential part of the therapeutic process.
Some clients need only a few sessions to achieve their goals, while others may require a longer period of time in therapy to obtain the results they are looking for. You may end the counseling at any point and I will be supportive of that decision. If therapy is successful, you should feel that you are able to face life's challenges in the future without my support.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
Just as we create relationships in our personal lives that may feel negative or unproductive, this can happen in therapy as well. The right match between the therapist and client is essential for deep healing to take place. Chances are that something didn't feel right to you about your past therapy and you ignored your intuition because the therapist is the professional and is "supposed" to know if the therapy is working. If you have had a therapy experience that was unhelpful, frustrating, or wounding in any way, I want to ensure you that this is not the case for therapy in general. Leaving relationships that are not working can be hard and this is true for therapeutic relaltionships as well. Finding a new therapist who works in a way that is comfortable and is accomplishing your goals is not only possible, but is extremely likely, if you interview several people and give the process another chance.
