My Approach to Helping
I strive to provide my highest quality of attention to each patient. I have a lifelong interest and training in psychology, mindfulness and mind-body awareness. Most importantly, I provide the safety of an empathetic and supportive therapeutic environment which allows appropriate grieving and letting go of the past. I work with you to foster self-understanding leading to a new sense of possibility and new life choices.

As a result of my own life process, I specialize in working with couples and individuals to cultivate aliveness and sexual fulfillment over the lifespan. I am particularly skilled and qualified to help you navigate life transitions and relationship difficulties.

In addition to my current work as a psychotherapist, I bring over 25 years of work experience as a consultant to organizations and a career outplacement professional. I don not live in an ivory tower of psychoanalytic theory; You will find me to be an active and curious participant in our duet. I am trained in mindfulness practice and bring a rich meditation practice to my work with patients.

couples Treatment is one of my specialties:
I am passionate about my work and continually attend seminars and training programs to integrate cutting edge practice taught by leaders in couples treatment: Sue Johnson, Julie Gottman, Ellen Bader, Ester Perel, Stan Tatkin and Walter Bracklemans. I am currently completing a year long certification program at UCLA that integrates Couples and Sex Therapy.

I work with couples to provide the knowledge and skills that they need to be intimate partners throughout the lifespan. An alive, intimate, passionate, growthful relationship does not happen by itself. Couples often arrive in my office as enemies. If they are willing, I help them repair their relationship and learn how to be intimate.

More Info About My Practice
Group therapy can provide a powerful acceleration of growth and insight. I currently am offering three groups:

1. Dating after 50: working through the barriers and gaining confidence and skill.
2. Couples in Mid-Life Group: How to create and maintain intimacy and connection.
3. Women in Mid-life and beyond: Resurrecting Sexuality
I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to discuss your situation. Please call me on my voice mail or email to schedule a phone interview: 818-754-8277 and be sure to leave some times that I can reach you. I look forward to talking with you.
The fee per session for group is $50 per session with a year commitment to preserve the integrity of the group.

My fee is $150 for an individual or couples 50 minute session. On a case-by-case basis, I offer a sliding scale fee in recognition that individual circumstances change and evolve.

I can provide a statement for your insurance company if they provide reimbursement for an out-of-network-provider. You need to inquire how that may work with your insurance provider.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am adept at helping people with issues associated with midlife and aging. Carl Gustav Jung, the famous psychiatrist, was one of the first to emphasize the notion of the mid-life journey and the search for meaning and individuation. Around age 50, we start to wonder if this is it. What am I doing on this planet? What happened to my dreams? My youth? What kind of work is meaningful? Will I ever find the love and intimacy that I hoped for, even if I have a partner or am married? How do I want to spend the rest of my life that is now shorter in what is ahead than behind? There are changes in the body that affect our image of ourselves. Sometimes, we suffer from low sexual desire and feel sexually "dead" or depressed. So often couples come to my office reporting years of sexual disengagement. I can help individuals and couples in mid-life sort out their individual issues from the issues of the couple. I can also help willing men and women find strength and hope to discover ways to awaken mid-life and beyond. If you find yourself in a mid-life dilemma or perhaps you are in your 60's or 70's and want to live more fully in the present, I can help. I have the experience and training and am a mature woman who created a new career of my dreams in my sixties. If you are age 40 and puzzled about your inability to find a mate, I can help you discover and work through barriers to intimacy. If you have chronic pain or illness,I can help.
