My Approach to Helping

I've worked as a psychotherapist for 30 years. My focus is on the competencies and positive attributes each person brings to problems that emerge over the course of a life. At times, these difficulties can be quite complex and may require an outside perspective andor support. I don't find pathological diagnoses useful, so my clients welcome my directive, action-oriented assignments. My work utilizes their strengths and resources toward workable solutions as well as a deeper understanding of themselves and the influence of history on their current situation.

More Info About My Practice

I've been trained in family and larger systems therapy which lends a broader perspective when looking at problems andor life. I offer a free initial consultation to meet with me.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Outside perspective and authenticity from another can be transformative. With a trusted witness providing an emotional sanctuary, a therapeutic alliance develops, allowing clients to be present with their confusion, their fears, and their histories. The power of telling one's story in one's own voice can be a source of healing from past hurts and damage. As some of the more recent brain research is indicating, new pathways and brain development can grow from such experiences. Psychotherapy can contribute to the development of a more defined sense of self.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

My preference is in working with clients' over a longer period of time. Using the therapeutic space and relationship with the therapist as a transformative window, my clients develop an understanding, a deeper awareness and acceptance of self. Bearing witness to this process of self discovery and self acceptance is thrilling for me. This kind of courage and commitment to self continues to be an inspiration. and makes me passionate about my work!
