My Approach to Helping
From the first telephone contact to meeting face to face, emphasis is on creating a safe, comfortable connection so client(s) feel supported & accepted. Using a holistic approach to individual, couples and family therapy, we address their concerns, physical, mental & emotional symptoms and identify goals most important to client(s). We assist clients to uncover thinking patterns/habits that keep them stuck, develop new insights and awareness to improve their self confidence and relationships with others. Besides psychotherapy and hypnotherapy, we teach many types of experiential practices such as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction so clients can build resiliency and coping skills in daily life.
More Info About My Practice
Length of therapy sessions depends on client?s concerns for which they come in. Often brief therapy of 5-8 sessions resolves the issue. Some client?s needs require more time and support and they choose to continue longer. Session length is either 1 or 2 hours; most being 2 hours allowing time to process concerns, engage in hypnotherapy or practice mindfulness/ stress management skills for coping and empowerment. We offer successful strategies for panic attacks, stress, smoking and other addictive habits. Sessions generally are in office with options for telephone or online video (Skype) available. We also make local house calls for those unable to travel to my office.
Clients pay by check or cash (soon PayPal). Statements are provided to clients who choose to submit to insurance for reimbursement. We are an out of network provider.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
It is important that you can feel safe and supported so you can share your concerns without fear of judgment. The therapist ought to be a good listener, communicator and have patience. The therapist ought to be able to tune into your needs so you feel understood. The therapist should have done her/his own inner work so she/he has clarity.
