My Approach to Helping
I view you as the expert of your own life, and so I offer therapeutic teachings and treatments from a collaborative approach. I will to listen to you from a non-judgmental and open perspective and offer you unconditional respect and regard. I believe we adapt to experiences to the best of our capabilities, and yet sometimes we don't have enough support, information, or resources to make optimal decisions. As a result we can end up adopting thoughts, feelings, or a way of living that can be harmful to ourselves and possibly others. You can use your therapy time to identify what no longer works and then begin to actualize the changes you desire. From a mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral framework, I teach techniques that you can apply right away. I draw on empirically-based treatment modalities, personal creativity, and even wilderness experiences to support healing and help clients achieve their personal goals. I offer counseling in two settings--my Multnomah Village office and even local parks.
