My Approach to Helping
Are you still feeling the effects of events or relationships from your past? If you find that the experiences of your past are interfering in your life today, I invite you to contact me. I specialize in helping people live in the present with both feet planted in today.

Choosing a therapist is difficult. My style is non-judgmental, light, and caring.
I treat infidelity, depression, anxiety, PTSD, abuse, grief/loss, body issues, self-esteem, panic attacks and substance use.

More Info About My Practice
I am considered in-network with Blue Shield of California and Aetna PPO. For other plans I am an out-of-network provider. If you have a PPO plan, this means I may accept your insurance but your co-pays or co-insurance may be higher. This gives you the power to chose the provider you feel is personally right for you.

For those without insurance prepayment discounts and phone sessions available. I offer free phone consultations. Limited evening appointments available. Email or call.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I feel very adept at helping people who have trauma in their past. This may be some type of abuse they experienced as an adult or child, witnessing an accident, or basically anything that keeps them from living in the present. I believe my training in both cognitive therapies and hypnosis combine to make the process less painful. You don't have to re-live horrible past events to get over them. I also specialize in relationships, as these two areas go hand in hand. So often our past affects how we interact in relationships.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I think the purpose of psychotherapy is assist people in living the life they want now, not just making plans for later. It's helping people realize goals and dreams but also being content with what they have. Most people have the tools, they just don't know how to use them. That's where I step in.

My Role as a Therapist

I believe my role as a therapist is not just to ask "How does that make you feel," although I may say that from time to time! Really my role is to be a support, a sounding board, a neutral party, a teacher and an honest provider of feedback. I really try to help my clients live in reality so they can be truly happy without providing judgement or being bossy.

My Therapy Focus

I have a few focuses, and some areas that I do not treat. I feel most comfortable working with trauma, relationships, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and adiction.

What I Usually Need to Know to Help

I need to know where they are now in their lives and where they want to be. I'll just take it from there.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

If you're seriously considering it or finding yourself returning to read profiles on the web, just make an appointment. Usually the anxiety about considering something is worse than actually doing it. When our body keeps trying to tell us something might be helpful, it's generally a good idea to at least call and talk to someone.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Not all therapists are created equal. I realize I'm not an expert on everything, therefore I don't treat everything. Once you find the right fit the experience of therapy can be life changing- in a good way! I've had clients who saw more therapists then they can remember and once they found the right fit (which was me in those cases)things got better. They were all happy they didn't give up. They were worth it.
