My Approach to Helping

My approach is flexible and active. I believe that we understand ourselves better by understanding our family relationships and history and I try to use the interaction between myself and my clients to further that self-awareness. Theoretically, I utilize a Relational model, and incorporate elements of other psychodynamic approaches as the situation calls for it. In my work with clients flexibility, forthrightness, and respect for the client are essential to good therapy. I believe that relationships are powerful and transformative and that therapy is a collaborative endeavor. Through exploring past and current relationships, and the internal world of thoughts and feelings, we work together toward changing self-defeating patterns and opening greater possibilities for a more fulfilling life.
