My Approach to Helping

I am committed to providing you with a safe, caring environment in which we can address your unique situation. By carefully listening, I work to get behind the everyday surface of a situation to the underlying meaning. My systemic approach means I look to the dynamics between people rather than solely focusing on the internal workings of one person. Even in individual work, this approach can be helpful and empowering. I often use humor to gently but skillfully pinpoint specific issues and highlight areas of growth.

More Info About My Practice

It may be a relationship with problems, a child acting out in school, or feelings of depression and sadness. Whatever the reason, you may be at a point in your life where you realize it's time for a change. There is help. As a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist, I see people with many different problems and circumstances. These are people just like you, people who want things to change for the better, and are ready to make it happen. In addition to the topics mentioned above, here are some additional issues that may indicate a need for therapy: *Marital Problems *Communication Issues *Anger Management *Anxiety *Infidelity *Premarital Work *Divorce *Stepfamily/Blended Family *Family Relationships *Quality of Life Issues *Abuse/Trauma Recovery *Dealing With Difficult People *Infertility *Grief and Loss The most important thing for you to know is that if you do reach out, I will work to the best of my abilities to guide you towards your goals and the vision of the life you want for yourself. If you are willing to make that commitment to grow, change is possible and even probable! Things can get better; call 301-588-5861 today for an appointment and let's talk. Ms. Fay has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Child and Family Studies from Syracuse University, and a Masters of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland at College Park. In addition to being licensed as an LCMFT in Maryland, she is also a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and a past Professional Affiliate with the Stepfamily Association of America. Ms. Fay has worked extensively with couples, particularly around marital and intimacy issues, and has given workshops on relationships to several organizations, including the Maryland Psychological Association. Her articles have been featured in "Your Health" magazine (2001) and the Montgomery County Mental Health Association's newsletter (Clinical Corner, MHA News, Summer 2003), and she is listed in Who's Who of American Women.
