My Approach to Helping
I come from a place of deep respect and caring for the people I work with. I work in a holistic manner seeing and reflecting a person's talents, strengths, and resources along with the challenges that they face. I work collaboratively focusing therapy on the issue/s that the person seeking therapy is wanting help for. I focus on listening empathically, psychoeducation, and on teaching skills are related to the issues that people are seeking therapy for.

I accept Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield including BC/BS of Vermont, United Behavioral Health, United, Unicare, Harvard Pilgrim Health Insurance, Masshealth Standard, Masshealth/Health New England Be Healthy, Masshealth/Celticare, and Health New England. I also work with Cambodians who have Boston Health Net. My fee for private pay counseling is $85 an hour.

I am particularly helpful with depression, anxiety, communication issues, and recovery from substance abuse (with people who have entered/or are willing to enter a 12 step program). I teach anxiety management skills that are particularly helpful.

I have a bachelor's degree in Asian Studies from the University of Hawaii. I speak Khmer fluently and work extensively with Cambodian genocide survivors. I have extensive experience studying and working with people from diverse backgrounds. I enjoy working with immigrants. I am engaged in anti-racism work and work with people of color around issues of discrimination and racism. I have undergone extensive training in working with mothers at various stages of parenting. I have studied Spanish intensively in Guatemala and am contracted through a local non-profit health center to work with Spanish speaking migrant farm workers. I enjoy working with GLBT clients.
