My Approach to Helping

The relationship you have with your therapist can predict how successful therapy is. So kudos to you for doing your research and finding a therapist to fit your needs! I hope that you're excited as you take this first, very important step. Understandably though, this can be a daunting process...but necessary.
I'm sure you're wanting to see some changes in your life. We all want to be living our best life, right?? Well, therapy is an excellent way to guide you through this process of making changes that more accommodate the life you envision for yourself. I believe that at one time or another, we all need help and support in navigating times of transition in our lives.
Reaching out for help does not make you weak, it actually takes quite a strong person to do this. I like to assist my clients in finding their way and becoming excited about their lives again (or for the first time)! Your story is unique and it can help to make sense of the past, present, and future in order to make positive changes or to assist in the healing process.

More Info About My Practice

I work exclusively online through face-to-face video sessions, and some find that to be intimidating. My goal is to provide you the high quality therapy you deserve in a comfortable setting. For a lot of my clients, this is their home or office. I have seen wonderful outcomes since starting to provide video sessions.
My approach to therapy has always been (10 years and counting now!) to provide unconditional support and positive regard for you as a person, free from judgement and always with respect and care. This hasn't changed since starting my online therapy program and I find the therapeutic process to be quite the same between in person and video sessions.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

To be able to help enable another human being in functioning more effectively in the world and travel around a little "lighter" from all of the weight being lifted is one of the most satisfying parts of my career. It is my joy and my honor to watch someone's mood and demeanor transform (sometimes within the same session), from defeated and hopeLESS to empowered and hopeFUL. We all have strengths that can help us cope, sometimes we just need a little help identifying or recognizing those strengths, then utilizing them to our advantage!

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

The length of therapy is based on the individual and the difficulty they are facing. Some people enjoy having a more long term therapist in order to "bounce ideas" off of and reflect on situations in their day-to-day life. Some may desire a more short term therapeutic experience. I can provide both. The average number of sessions I see someone who is simply trying to resolve a situational issue is 6-8 sessions. I recommend weekly to bi-weekly appointments but this schedule is one that you and I can decide on in the initial session. Once an issue has stabilized it's not uncommon for the therapy schedule to shift to a monthly basis. Therapy is complete when you and I discuss what is comfortable for you and when you wish to discontinue therapy. However, you are always welcome back if something else should arise.
