My Approach to Helping
I enjoy working with people from all walks of life. Each person has a unique story to share, and has unique challenges they face. I believe clients are the experts, and many of the answers to their questions dwell within. My role is to assist clients with clarifying their needs and helping them to come up with solutions. I also believe there is no such thing as a "one size fits all" model of therapy; therefore, I strive to create a therapeutic relationship which is unique to each client. You are important to me, and my goal is to help you achieve the results you desire.
My clients represent the full spectrum of humanity: young/old, rich/poor, gay/straight/bisexual/transgendered, religious/spiritual/agnostic/atheist, and various cultures and heritages.
I can use play therapy in one session and turn around and use cognitive restructuring in the next. Big words which simply mean I'm flexible in my approach and use of therapeutic techniques.
I enjoy working with children and families where autism spectrum disorders are present. People with Autism and Asperger's have a unique view of the world, which often challenges me and my view of the world. Using social skills, modeling empathy, and addressing social development needs are important to this population. Supporting the families via support groups and individual/family therapy are important resources I also provide.
That's enough about me. I want to know about you. How can I help you achieve your goals and fulfill your dreams?
