I am an experienced psychologist who works exclusively with adults in individual psychotherapy. In my practice, I see people with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety and panic, PTSD, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, and relationship issues. In general, I help the people I work with look at the areas of distress in their lives today and identify present or past experiences that may be contributing. I help my patients work through childhood experiences that may be having continuing negative effects on their lives, and address together present-day patterns of behavior that might be changed. Through this process, my patients live progressively happier, more contented lives. If necessary, I teach skills and techniques that can help manage any symptoms they may be having, so they can function better on a daily basis.
I completed advanced post-doctoral training at a Harvard-affiliated hospital in the treatment of complex PTSD and dissociative disorders. I am very experienced at treating DID. I am trained in EMDR.
I also do therapy and consultation around issues of adoption. I do therapeutic work with any member of the adoption "triad" -- i.e., adoptive parent (or prospective adoptive parent), adopted adult, or birthparent. For singles or couples interested in pursuing adoption who are seeking information, I can provide one or more sessions of consultation around the nuts and bolts of the adoption process.
