My Approach to Helping
My approach to therapy is strength based, as I believe that each individual has within them the resources to make positive and changes in their lives, and in their relationships. I feel strongly about the power that therapy can have in helping to facilitate these changes. I view therapy as an experience that is as unique as the people who enter into the relationship, and because of this, my approach to each client I work with is rarely exactly the same. Some people enter therapy with a desire to change a specific behavior, to alleviate a particular symptom, or to get help in dealing with a stressful life event. Still others enter therapy simply out of a desire to understand themselves better, and to work towards self discovery and growth. I strive to connect deeply and honestly with each person I work with, and to develop a collaborative and supportive partnership that is based on accpetance, respect, and warmth. Through this partnership, we work to find the "gaps" between the way things are, and the way things could be. Working together, goals are developed and a plan for change is created.
