My Approach to Helping
Deciding to see a therapist often involves a lot of anxiety and I appreciate that you want to find a well-trained professional with both the knowledge and the compassion to provide you a comfortable and successful therapy experience. I believe I can be that therapist for you. The information on my website will be helpful to you in deciding if I am.

While there are many reasons to seek therapy and, fortunately, many benefits that can come from utilizing therapy, the ultimate goal is to restore or enhance your quality of life. Whether you are experiencing emotional distress from recent life events or someone who has struggled with their feelings for a long time, a well-trained, experienced therapist can help. With your own hard effort and the professional guidance a therapist can offer, you can feel better.

I am a well-trained, licensed Psychologist with over 30 years of professional experience. I work with Adults, either in individual psychotherapy or in relationship counseling. I have a specialty interest in Geriatrics, working with older individuals and couples, as well as with individuals dealing with memory and behavioral changes due to Alzheimer's and other dementias or in support of their family members/caregivers.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have had the honor of working with many families struggling with the effects of declining cognitive function due to Alzheimer's Disease or other dementias. Appreciating the practical and emotional issues these illnesses create for the individual with the illness and for their loved ones/caregivers. I have provided guidance and support in addressing care and supervision issues, safety issues, emergency planning and the complicated emotional process of dealing with cognitive change.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to assist you in achieving the highest quality of life you can have within the reality of your life. Some things that impact our lives in undesired ways cannot be changed, and we have to learn to accept them and work around them. My role is to assist you in finding ways to accept what cannot be changed and to thrive in spite of those issues. Other issues or feelings that negatively impact our lives can be changed and therapy can be helpful in accomplishing that change. My role as a therapist is to serve as a guide, using what I learn about who you are and what you want in your life, to encourage your good efforts to make and maintain healthy change.
