I work with you to fully understand your current problems and strengths and how they developed. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches to address cognitive, emotional, and behavioral problem areas in your life. Generally, I work with clients to disengage from the critical content of their minds. Oftentimes people struggle with different forms of self-rejection, and I work with clients in moving away from that posture in life and towards a more compassionate posture.
I provide counseling services for individuals and couples, and offer a DBT psychosocial skills training group. DBT, is a unique therapy developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan, with whom I have been trained. The DBT skills group works to develop mindfulness skills, emotional regulation skills, distress tolerance skills, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.
I attempt to match the therapeutic approach with each person's unique set of issues. I do not apply a 'one approach fits all' model of therapy. I have been a practicing therapist for 18 years and I tap into that experience to develop a therapy plan that fits your unique needs and problems. Inclusive in my approach is acknowledgment and utilization of your strengths in moving forward to create a more satisfying life.
Additionally, I work with junior and adult level athletes as a sports performance mental coach. This simply means I help athletes address cognitive, emotional, and behavioral obstacles that are interfering with their desired sports performance goals.
