My Approach to Helping
In times of distress, it's natural for us to seek ways to soothe and comfort ourselves. Sometimes we choose a path that supports our wellbeing and other times we need a companion to walk alongside us as we strengthen our ability to support ourselves. I believe psychotherapy is a process that deepens our capacity to nurture ourselves during difficult times.
The focus of our work together will be to relieve your discomfort with present circumstances while developing the skill and confidence to remain calm in the midst of the storm. You will guide the pace and direction of our sessions. By telling your story, you will help support your body's ability to care for itself. Together we will determine a custom approach to your journey that combines empirically-supported cognitive and depth-oriented talk therapy together with mind-body medicine modalities like biofeedback, mindfulness, dream analysis, the expressive arts, and guided imagery.
I serve on the faculty of the nationally-recognized Harmony Hill Retreat Center (funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) where I have facilitated wellness retreats for people living with cancer and their caregivers since 2005. Previously, I worked in training and development with corporate and nonprofit organizations. I am pursuing my PhD in clinical psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
