My Approach to Helping
My first goal is to provide you with the space, the safety and the opportunity to identify and share your reasons for coming in. It may be that you want to better understand and take care of yourself, to improve your relationships, to alleviate stress and/or to solve other concrete problems. You may be looking for individual therapy, or come as a couple to improve your relationship. Together we will clarify the challenges you're facing, the ways you've dealt with them before and alternative approaches. I am comfortable dealing with a wide range of issues, but also recognize that each person or couple's experiences are unique. I will do my best to tune into what you are saying, to ask questions, to share my perceptions and to encourage your feedback. The key to our success will be building an open, honest connection that enables you to get the most out of our work together. Therapy is hard work, but can also be enlightening and rewarding, with its potential to help you feel better about yourself, recognize and express yourself more fully and connect with others in a more positive and satisfying way. It will be my privilege to embark upon that endeavor with you, and I will dedicate myself to making it a positive experience.
