My Approach to Helping

"If you know the way, show it to others"...Do you feel as if you've been dealt with some pretty rough blows in life? Do you feel as if nobody understands? Well I too have had some rather painful challenges in my lifetime, but I have worked hard and have successfully overcome them. Many years ago, I saw a sign with the above quotation, and I knew it was 'speaking' to me. I didn't know how or why, but I just knew. Now, all of these years later, I am a licensed therapist and reaching out to help others who are struggling. I may not have all of the answers, but I promise to listen and care, and together we will find the answers that are 'right' for you and your situation. Please don't suffer alone. I can help!

More Info About My Practice

As a down-to-earth therapist, I use an integrated approach to therapy. My own unique style is comprised of several different methodologies. Motivational Interviewing coupled with Emotionally Focused Therapy and Attachment Theory allows me to provide warmth, sensitivity, caring and compassion to my clients. The addition of Cognitive/Behavioral techniques when appropriate, allows me to provide practical suggestions which can make life run more smoothly for my clients. I also place an emphasis upon intergenerational patterns which may be reoccurring in the life of my clients, as these may be contributing to their inability to cope in an optimal manner with both themselves and with others. I have found this approach to work well with individuals, couples, or families. I strive to help my clients build upon their own strengths and to identify and achieve the goals which are important to them. Since I believe strongly in each of my clients, I make an effort to help them to believe in themselves, so that they may find the solutions which would best help them to overcome their life challenges and/or psychological issues. I aim to assist my clients in seeing the difference between where they are in life and where they want to be. In helping my client(s) to view their past or present emotional pain, they can begin making new choices as to how they want to live their lives. As a therapist, I attempt to guide my clients towards the achievement of emotional freedom. My approach to therapy varies from client-to-client and from session-to-session, as I feel that it is important to remain flexible in the treatment of my clients. I feel that no two clients or their treatment should ever be exactly alike. I tailor sessions to best meet the individual needs of each person which enters into my office. What never varies is my earnest effort to create a safe environment filled with genuine empathy and understanding, along with my commitment to "walk alongside of" my client(s), as we explore any problematic, intergenerational patterns and/or attachment injuries. Through my distinctive therapeutic approach I am able to take an active role in getting to better know my client, as they get to know themselves better. I find it to be a privilege to share, along with my client, as we set out together on their emotional journey.
