My Approach to Helping
Highly trained, experienced, caring, and spiritually conscious, I provide calm, empathic presence, intuitive insight, and encouragement to those seeking to strengthen their sense of self and express their highest potential. I am trained in the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for the treatment of trauma and other painful or highly charged memories, experiences, and relationships. In practice for over 20 years, I began my clinical work as an addiction counselor in the early 1980's, graduated from Loyola University School of Social Work in 1991, and completed an Advanced Psychodynamic Clinical Practice Certification at the University of Chicago. My training in EMDR was completed at the EMDR Institute.

Treatment specialties include: Intervening with those who are struggling with addiction; Treating child abuse and other forms of trauma; Providing relationship counseling; Creating safety where men closed off their emotional lives can reconnect with their feelings and develop mutually satisfying relationships; and Providing coaching for parents.

My interpersonal style is one of unconditional acceptance, honesty and humor. Clients thrive in response to my natural inclination to see and encourage their best and highest potential. The use of EMDR can facilitate quite rapid resolution of painful memories and relationships, trauma, and negative beliefs about the self.

More Info About My Practice
Many who have struggled for years and have found it difficult to move through and beyond extremely painful, highly charged memories have found EMDR invaluable in powerfully shifting both the 'old story' and destructive negative beliefs about self more quickly than with traditional talk therapy.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I began my clinical work as an addiction counselor in the 1980's, working closely with 12-step programs to help people out of the pain and suffering of their own or a loved one's addiction. Additionally I am trained in the use of EMDR which is an extremely effective treatment for both acute trauma and highly charged unresolved issues that are difficult to work through with traditional talk therapy.
