My Approach to Helping
Do you have a hard time being calm and alert? Overloaded with worry, sadness, or anger? Having a hard time focusing, making decisions, or getting along with people? Are you easily distracted, feeling overwhelmed, or experiencing extreme body tension? Do you have low energy, get lousy sleep, or can't shake troubling thoughts? At times, you don't feel like yourself? If any of these describe you, I want to help you.
We will focus on increasing your happiness, life satisfaction, calmness, and alertness. We will also work on getting rid of sadness, anger, worry, and distractibility. We will use a combination of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Neurofeedback, and Biofeedback to reach your goals.
Depending on your personal goals and preferences, we will use a combination of the following therapies.
We will use Cognitive Behavior Therapy to change problem thoughts, feelings, and actions. You will learn about connections among situations, core beliefs, intermediate beliefs, automatic thoughts, feelings, actions, and body sensations. During our sessions, you will learn different ways to respond to life situations. To improve your mental health and performance, you will learn Biofeedback Therapy to control your skin temperature, skin moisture, heart beat, and breathing rate. You will also learn calming, mindfulness, and meditation skills to improve your life.
We'll change or improve your life by using Neurofeedback Therapy (NT) to teach your brain to maintain a healthy state. Through NT, your mind learns how to increase calmness and alertness. When your brain is calm and alert, you become better at focusing on regulating your thoughts, feelings, and actions.
NT gives feedback directly to your brain. This feedback is used by your brain to strengthen and tune itself. Your brain will use its new strengths and tuning during and after training sessions. You may experience immediate positive changes and long lasting results by completing 20 to 40 sessions. NT is painless and non-invasive and there are over 400 research papers on its success of helping people and the research continues to grow.
Sensors are placed on the head and ears to pick up EEG brain waves. I will watch your waves on a laptop and you will watch a large monitor. When your waves are in the right state you will hear a beep and see a game, movie, or pictures move on your screen. When your waves are not in the right state, you will not hear beeps and the monitor will stop. During our 30 minute training, I will change laptop settings to help you get more beeps and more video action, this teaches your brain how to get and keep a healthy state.

Costs for services depend on your individual situation. We'll work on reducing financial barriers keeping you from accessing therapy. My goal is to develop your payment fee that satisfies both of us.
Insurance - I will help you navigate your insurance options. For insurance payments, I'm a certified provider with CIGNA; Blue Cross/Blue Shield; Magellan Behavioral Health; Aetna; Humana/Choice Care; Corphealth; Employee Resource Systems, Inc; UniCare; Wellpoint Behavioral Health (EAP); Compsych; and APS Healthcare. I'm applying to additional insurance companies; please contact me even if your insurance company is not on this list. As a certified provider, I will bill your insurance company for you. If applicable, I ask that you pay your co-pay at each session. In the event you have not met your deductible, the contracted fee is due at each session until the deductible is satisfied.
Out of Network - I will help you understand your out of network benefits before using this payment plan. If I am not contracted with your insurance carrier, you may be able to use your out of network benefits. This means you will pay me for services provided and I will provide you with a statement (super bill) each month. You submit your super bill to your insurance for reimbursement. When you use out of network benefits, your insurance company typically reimburses a portion of the costs depending on your insurance company policies.
Out of Pocket - I provide a sliding scale for out of pocket payment. We'll have a discussion to decide your service fees based on your current income, financial situation, availability of funds for therapy, and how much you think the services are worth.
I accept credit cards, checks, cash, or money orders; you will receive a receipt for every transaction.
