I believe that we are complex, self-sustaining/self-authored living organisms embedded in equally complex relational networks. I see my work as focusing on each individual who comes to see me and trying to understand how, what that individual brings to therapy, arises in the context of their life as it is. I am curious about the purpose and value of symptoms and how they play a role in sustaining the individual in their particular niche in the universe. I am deeply committed to a collaborative approach and to the pragmatics of ordinary human functioning as medicinal. I believe that the collaborative, mutual nature and purposeful, considered inquiry that takes place between therapist and patient is a model of human functioning that in all it's clumsiness, elegance and sincerity is, ultimately, what heals. I sometimes make jokes, tell stories, encourage people to watch Cesar Milan, and teach people to meditate by listening to my CD. I don't push it.
