My Approach to Helping
I use both conversation and art to assist individuals, families, and children who are struggling with problems that stand in the way of living the lives they want for themselves and each other. I believe that people make sense of their lives through stories they tell about themselves. My approach to therapy focuses on these stories. It involves finding ways in which people can change their relationships to whatever problem or difficulty they are facing. Many people prefer expressing their stories and relationships to problems through visual arts rather than with words. Both of these approaches can be used in relation to any difficulties that a person may be struggling with. My approach tries to be mindful of how ideas about families, sexuality, gender, age, class, religion, and culture significantly influence people's life experiences.
