Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I help women and couples develop healthier communication patterns, maintain positive relationships with others and uncover their true potential to lead a life that is worth celebrating. We can't change difficult situations of the past, but we can work together to better understand and resolve emotional and interpersonal challenges that keep you feeling "stuck." Stop doubting yourself and start tapping into your passion, insight, intelligence, drive and desire to live a truly joyful life.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Therapists can be a tremendous asset to facilitating personal growth, interpersonal relationships, family concerns, marriage issues and emotional pressures we experience in our everyday lives. Therapy can help provide a fresh, healthy perspective on a difficult experience or current problem and point you in the direction of a solution. The benefits you gain from therapy depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn.

My Therapy Focus

I help women and couples develop healthier communication patterns, maintain positive relationships with others and uncover their true potential to lead a life that is worth celebrating. On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

People often think of therapy as a "last resort" and repeatedly tell themselves, even in the midst of crisis or significant emotional pressure, "I can handle this myself." While I have no doubt you have the ability to handle anything, don't forget that there is value in "recruiting assistance," as I like to describe to clients. I know people have what it takes; I have enjoyed working with dynamic, intelligent, motivated women in my practice. However, this doesn't mean you can effectively tackle every life challenge with ease and a smile on your face... or that you are expected to.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Finding the "right" therapist for you can feel stressful; it is important to find a counselor that fits well with your personal style and specializes in the area(s) that are most important to you. I welcome you to visit www.knoxcounselor.com for more information about my practice.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

I enjoy knowing that women feel safe to confide in me and trust me to help them through their most significant life challenges. I know these things because they openly tell me. I make it no secret, in my words or actions, that I have your goals and well-being at the forefront of everything I do in our work together.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

People often think of therapy as a "last resort" and repeatedly tell themselves, even in the midst of crisis or significant emotional pressure, "I can handle this myself." While I have no doubt you have the ability to handle anything, don't forget that there is value in "recruiting assistance," as I like to describe to clients. I know people have what it takes; I have enjoyed working with dynamic, intelligent, motivated women in my practice. However, this doesn't mean you can effectively tackle every life challenge with ease and a smile on your face... or that you are expected to.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

It is common for clients to schedule weekly sessions, where each session lasts around fifty minutes. Therapy can be short-term, focusing on a specific issue, or longer-term to address more complex issues or ongoing personal growth. I allow clients freedom and opportunity to share with me their perspective on progress and goals; we openly disucss progess and planning in terms of scheduling, maintenance and closure of our work together.
