My Approach to Helping

In my view it is a privilege, a responsibility and a blessing to counsel those who are willing to illuminate and heal the dark places in their lives. Because human beings are holistic in nature, composed of body, mind and spirit, my approach will reflect that trinity. The goal is to release each of these three from blocks in order to reveal inner peace.

I\'m an educational and interactive counselor. I\'m also an author- my book: \"Relax on Impact- Transformation and Empowerment Through Surrender\". I\'m also launching the ROI Program for Colleges, Practitioners, Detox, Residential and Intensive Outpatient Practice. This is the audiovisual version of the book, coupled with animation, curriculums, a license to use and an original soundtrack. I counseled the terminally ill and their families in a hospice organization, individuals and their families in a long term drug and alcohol rehabilitation center and individuals, couples and families in private practice. I specialize in recovery from grief, addictions and relationship issues. My therapy emphasizes emotional literacy and healthy, interpersonal communication.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I assist the client in revealing conflicted patterns in themselves and with others. I empower clients with education and by practicing skills necessary for freedom that allows personal choice rather than a default of repeated reactions.

As a Certified Addictions Professional, I provide psychotherapy that adds dimension to 12-Step recovery. I educate my clients in emotional literacy and offer interpersonal communication training.

As a former hospice grief counselor, I support grieving processes ranging from childhood to present day relationships to various diseases and to dealing with death.

I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues. I provide services that include addiction counseling, therapy for depression and grief, parenting support, couples counseling and beyond. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer skilled, compassionate guidance to each of my clients. My goal is to empower each client in achieving powerful freedom of choice.

I\'m authentic, a therapist who sought and completed her own therapy prior to treating others. I understand psychological skills and emotional intimacy on a deep level because I practice them myself. I have true compassion for others and provide realistic goals with my clients in a team fashion.

I currently accept personal checks, cash, and the following insurances:

CIGNA
HUMANA

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I'm highly trained and, I believe, able to support couples in a process that involves individual as well as couples intimacy on an emotional level. I'm also specifically trained and credentialled in helping to heal and overcome all addictions and addictive behaviors in a way that expands on and adds to Twelve Step recovery.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love being able to participate in a therapeutic relationship that is many times life changing for a willing client. I love sharing my knowledge and experience as a mental health counselor and as an addictions professional. I'm passionate about psychology skills and mental health education because we don't learn any of this in school or as children. All areas of our lives are impacted by our lack of knowledge or incorrect perceptions and lack of feelings expression. The education and teamwork of therapy can be a turning point and a source of insight that colors all relationships for a client.
