My Approach to Helping
Therapy is conducted in 3 phases - introduction phase in which history is gathered, relationship dynamics and problems are solidified (using a systems theory or relational approach), followed by a behavior change phase where we implement more of the cognitive behavioral model of therapy (CBT) in attempting to adjust behavior and also create a better understanding of self in the problem, and then last taking the success at home (the comfort zone) we've achieved and applying out in the world (work, school, other relationships) where I use a combination of CBT, relational therapy, as well as solutions focused approach.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

As a forensic, social study evaluator for the area courts, I have a strong knowledge base for what adults, children, and the families as a whole are going through during a divorce. I am aware of the pitfalls of marriage itself, the stress related to litigation, the children's feelings about divorce and the children possibly being pulled in the middle of the conflict during a divorce, as well as what it takes to keep a marriage together and when it may be better to leave an unhappy or "stuck" marriage or instead revive a marriage.

What I Usually Need to Know to Help

Basically anyone willing to put the effort forth and work can be successful in therapy. You get what you put into it.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

The length of therapy is different for all people. Some people come to therapy in which a crisis needs to be diffused before starting the true work in which the client would have a lengthier process, while other's may come in very knowledgeable and aware of their situation and only need some brief guidance. The best therapeutic work occurs when the client works through a complete avenue of treatment that is deemed most appropriate by the professional for their specific presented problem. By the second session, I make my clients aware of how many sessions I foresee for them to get them through the proper treatment in which presented goals are attained. Such projection is adjusted if unforeseen and unique circumstances arise during the course of therapy.
