Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychotherapy
I'm a licensed professional.
Licensed marriage and family therapist - 1996
Therapy can help you understand and reframe your problems and concerns. It can teach you specific skills to help you find more satisfaction from the work you do and your relationships. A therapist’s office is a place where you are free to express private thoughts and struggles. Friends and family members can provide excellent emotional support, but a therapist can give you a trained, and more impartial, perspective on your life. A therapist can help provide support, insight, and a new strategy for life’s challenges. Therapy is right for anyone interested in improving life by creating greater self-awareness and making active life changes.
IS Counseling, a collaboration between Miriam Itzkowitz, LICSW and Jessica Sawyer, LAMFT, is based on the counseling philosophy we share. We believe the most powerful tool in therapy is the connection between therapist and client. We help create and maintain this connection so that our clients can move towards change.
I have worked with youth, adults, and families doing in-home, group, individual, and couples/partner therapy. I am an experiential, strengths-based therapist encouraging client strengths while challenging destructive patterns. Creativity, authenticity, healing, and laughter are essential parts of my collaboration with clients on problem solving, communication, and goal planning.
