My Approach to Helping
My passion is helping people discover strengths within themselves to better navigate the complexities life. I view the counseling process as a collaborative effort where people are their own best experts. I encourage clients to set their own goals and pace for the therapeutic experience. I work to create a safe and non-judgmental environment to express and explore concerns that are keeping you feeling stuck, unsure, hurt, depressed, alone and disconnected. From insights gained in the process, you can begin to examine patterns and beliefs that are no longer working for you and replace them with new ones that inspire and ignite new passion, focus and purpose. My approach is compassionate yet direct and I am able to quickly build rapport with clients of all ages and from very diverse backgrounds. My areas of specialty include addictions, self-esteem issues, anxiety and fears, depression, grief and loss, spirituality, relationship issues, men's issues and others. I hold undergraduate and graduate degrees with honors from Rollins College, am a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a member of The American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW), International Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (IAMFT), and Psi-Chi National Psychology Honors Society. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient environments with a diverse clientele on a wide range of complex issues including addictions, mood disorders and personality disorders. In addition to my practice, I'm an adjunct faculty member of Valencia Community College where I teach in the psychology department.
