My Approach to Helping
We are like snowflakes:each made of the same material, but we are eachwith unique footprints as human beings.I believe we are all searching for peace, love and happiness. Along the way, we can get stuck in old habitual thinking which can sometimes make it difficult to change.Change comes only out of self acceptance, self awareness and self kindness. This is the premise of my approach. I guide my clients in their understanding of themselves using many creative approaches.

More Info About My Practice
I have a percentage of my practice in which I accept some insurance. I have a sliding scale fee (to be discussed in person). I work with individuals, groups couples and families. I offer a free consultation.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am a published author on the topic of relationships. I have a book called Mother Daughter Duets which deals with the topic of the relationship between mothers and daughters as they grow older. I have been in practice for 35 plus years and have worked extensively with couples and families in a large variety of issues. I use many approaches depending on the people I am working with. I work with couples to help them understand why they are in the relationship they are in, how to make that relationship more fulfilling, how to build the love and keep the sparks. I work with individuals regarding family of origin issues. I help people explore their inner child and his/her relationship to him/herself now. I teach self nurturing, self love techniques. I help offer tools for those dealing with anxiety and depression. I use body work, breathe work, hypnosis, and meditation to help people learn to stay in the present.I teach mindfulness to help people learn to stay in the present.Staying in the present allows the person to be grounded and present. Intimacy is knowing who you are and being able to share it with others.True intimacy is what we all yearn for. Through the process of therapy, I would hope that you would learn new skills to enrich your life experience . We are social creatures, us humans. Relationships take work, knowledge and skill. They don't just happen. I consider myself an expert in this area of life. Check my website www.jenniferrosvallylcsw for more info on me,JR

My Role as a Therapist

Think of it this way,if therapy is school, "you" are the subject and "life" is the workshop, then the times of challenge in life is the "exam". We all get challenged by life circumstances. Sometimes we need a helping hand. My role as a therapist is one of a teacher and a guide. People usually come to therapy when they are having trouble negotiating some of life's challenges. My job is to provide a supportive, non judgmental enviornment for you to be able to look at yourself in. I listen and give feedback to guide you to a place (inside yourself) where you can become more self aware. I teach self acceptance and self love. I am by nature a very nurturing person. I use that to model this self acceptance by providing unconditional acceptance for you. I give homework and expect that when you are ready, you will practice what you are learning. I foster independence in the psychotherapeutic process. We do what we do because that is what we have always done. By learning new thoughts that are based in self acceptance, we can be open to change. Please visit my website for more information on topics of interest and about me as a professional and a person. I have two websites;www.jenniferrosvallylcsw and www.motherdaughterduets.com If you have questions for me, please feel free to contact me via this website Goodtherapy.org I am always open to hearing from you or for any requests to write about a topic you may want to know more about. My role as the therapist is only one of them. JSR
