My Approach to Helping
The search for the right therapist can seem like a daunting task. You may have heard the phrase: 'It's the relationship that heals.' In my ten years of helping clients, I have found this to be very true. I work from an empowerment model, helping clients access untapped internal resources to decrease suffering and achieve a greater sense of well being. I offer a combination of insight-oriented therapy to increase self understanding with practical coping skills such as cognitive behavioral techniques. When working with clients suffering from eating disorders or postpartum disorders, crisis intervention is my immediate focus.

My areas of focus include: depression, anxiety, self esteem / identity issues, eating disorders, women's issues, body image issues, relationships, and postpartum mood disorders. My extensive eating disorders experience includes providing psychotherapy to individuals and their loved ones in several inpatient & outpatient clinics as well as in private practice.

I also specialize in supporting women who find themselves awakening to their attraction to other women despite being married or leading a heterosexual life. For women suffering from postpartum disorders including postpartum depression, anxiety, ocd or ptsd, i offer home visits when leaving home is just too overwhelming or not possible.

More Info About My Practice
Upon request, I furnish most of my clients with 'Superbills' to submit to their insurance companies for partial reimbursement of services.
Most, if not all, successfully receive reimbursement.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

A major purpose of psychotherapy is to decrease suffering and increase one's sense of well being and self acceptance. A large part of this process requires increasing one's insight - to make conscious what has largely remained unconscious so that we can better understand why we behave the way we do. Once we understand this we can make new and healthier choices.
