My Approach to Helping
I work with adolescents and adults as a collaborative, supportive partner to improve mental health and overall well being. My therapeutic approaches bring together cognitive, behavioral, and insight-focused strategies. This warm and personal style helps clients work through ingrained and unhealthy patterns that keep them stuck in emotional distress and unfulfilling relationships. I approach therapy from a mindful and holistic perspective, with an emphasis on integrating mind, body, and spirit as they relate to health and healing. I address a wide range of presenting issues in addition to welcoming concerns related to the intersection of physical and mental health. I am trained in clinical hypnosis, and enjoy working creatively to find effective solutions to inspire positive and lasting change.

More Info About My Practice
I accept several kinds of insurance in addition to out-of-network and self-pay clients. Insurance types accepted include: BCBS, Preferred One, and MA. I also can negotiate on a sliding fee scale for people having financial difficulties.

My Role as a Therapist

I work to help people develop insights and make lifestyle changes in order to break free from unhealthy patterns and habits related to mental, physical, and spiritual health. When I speak of spiritual health, I am referring not to a specific religious orientation or belief system – I am referencing that deep sense of “aliveness,” purpose, meaning, and connection that may or may not correspond to religious faith. When this, or our physical health is out of balance, our sense of mental and emotional wellbeing also feels unbalanced. My hope for my clients is that through establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship, we can work together to identify goals and areas where growth is needed. Together, we can work to bring about insight and create healthy, lasting changes in thinking, emotion, and behavior, in addition to improving physical wellbeing and relationships.

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

It is my belief that emotional distress and mental illness stem from more than just our brain chemistry or our thoughts alone. Depression, anxiety, and other mental health struggles often result from a combination of many factors, therefore, treatment should address the whole person in their life context. By this, I mean that mental health struggles often have links to our brain chemistry, thoughts, emotions, physical health, relationships, and sense of spirituality or life purpose. This is why my approach to healing incorporates many different facets of wellness.
